RMFL Playoffs are Starting June 13th

The teams are set and now the times of the games are starting to be confirmed. It looks like the Bears will be playing the Revolution at Bingham High School at 7 p.m. on Saturday. I am planning on being to that one for sure, but where to go before that one is still up in the air. The Shock will be playing the Mustangs at Cottonwood High School starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday. I am thinking of going to part of that game before the Bears/Revolution game. I could go to just over an hour of that game and then head over to Bingham High for the 7 p.m. game.

Right now that is what I am planning. I did see that there might be a AA game at Timpview High starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday as well. I guess I could possibly catch just over an hour of that game and still make it to Cottonwood to catch just over an hour of the game there. I am still trying to decide if that would be worth doing. The Desperados will be playing the Knights and I have not seen either of those teams play. There could be three games in one night, although I would catch about half of two of the games.

Bears Defeat Predators and Earn Playoff Spot

The Cache Valley Bears are still alive and can still defend their Rocky Mountain Football League AAA Championship. With a win by the Bears over the Predators, 12-9, tonight and a loss by the Rockets, the Bears take the second automatic spot in the playoffs from the Central Division. The Bears will face the Revolution next weekend for a rematch of last week’s game. A game that saw the Revolution walk away with a 39 to 6 victory.

The Bears used an interesting lineup against the Predators and still held on for the victory. The game saw many Bears players in the quarterback position and no one could tell if the Bears were on offense or defense based on the players on the field. Norvel Young found the Predator’s QBs more willing to throw him the ball than the Bear’s own QBs, so he played defense and recorded two interceptions and ran one back for a touchdown.

Perplexed

Another weekend is fast approaching and I still haven’t decided which teams I will be covering. My two real options are here in the valley, so travel isn’t an issue this time. I either go to Sky View High School or Romney Stadium. There is a possibility of doing both, just figuring out how much of each game to cover.

The Bears will be hosting the Predators for a very important game for each team making the AAA playoffs. The Bears must win the game and the Predators, although they do have a mathematical chance by losing, really need to win in order for the teams to move on to the playoffs. It is a critical game for both teams and they should both play their best games possible to avoid missing the playoffs. I am thinking the first half of this game will let me know if staying for the end is necessary. I can probably stay for the first hour and then decide if I move over to the other game. It will be a difficult decision when to leave unless it is a blowout.

RMFL AAA Playoff Possibilities and Predictions

With the last week of the season upon us, I decided to write an article about the playoff possibilities for the AAA teams in the Rocky Mountain Football League (RMFL). It has been an interesting season and I am sure the last week will be the same. I must admit that I am no expert on the by-laws, constitution, and rules of the RMFL; but I am going to give it my best effort. I will break it down by division automatic positions and then take on the wild-card possibilities.

There are eight teams that will make the playoffs with seven being automatic spots and one wild-card spot. The North Division receives three spots for the top three teams and the Central and South Divisions get automatic spots for their top two teams. The remaining spot goes to a wild-card team. I will then go all out and predict the AAA champions. I will start with the AAA North Division.

The Wasatch Revolution are for real and they showed why they are the top team in the AAA South Division. With only one loss, they are tied with the Blaze and one game behind the Shock in the AAA overall. Their only loss was to the Shock earlier this season.

May 16th Games -- Probable Coverage

I was looking at catching four games in two days, but with the change of the Logan Stampede game it appears I will make only two games instead. Right now I am leaning towards the Shock/Blitz game in Salt Lake in the afternoon and then the Stampede/Warriorz game in Logan that night. That would be the least amount of driving and I would be in Logan when I was done. I just don't want to drive, and pay for gas, as far as Rexburg this weekend.

I was tempted to do the Friday night game but after looking at how badly the Revolution beat the Wolverines earlier this year, I just decided it probably would not be worth attending. Watch me have to eat my words after that comment. With how things have been going it just doesn't look like it is in the cards for the Wolverines however.

I still want to see the Blitz play this year and the Shock are in first place still, so I am hoping that will be a very good game. It doesn't hurt that Cottonwood is only half as far as Sugar Salem High either. The only thing that would have made all this better is having the Stampede/Warriorz game at 6 p.m. so there would be better lighting for the game. I guess I can't ask for everything.

I decided to kill a little time in Photoshop today and see what I could come up with. How about photos of what the Cache Valley Bears would have looked like 50+ years ago? See what you think. Obviously some of the equipment would give these photos away as not authentic, but the old color quality and grain might.

This is what happens when someone tried to learn a new process and has a few hours to kill. Photos can be viewed here at TrueAggies.com by CLICKING HERE.

May 16th Possibilities

This next Saturday poses some interesting decisions for me regarding the Rocky Mountain Football League. Normally I would be covering the Cache Valley Bears team, but they will be three hours away in Idaho. That is a long drive and would take me away from home for the entire day. If I do make the trip, there are two games right off the freeway on the way home that I can catch to make it a double-header with no additional gas expense. So what do I do?

I could go to the Bears game in Rexburg against the Madison Lionz and on the way home catch the Davis Cowboys and Idaho Mustangs game in Idaho Falls or I could catch the Ogden Rockets and Pocatello Predators. The Ogden Rockets playing the Pocatello Predators looks more promising as the time lines up better and would still allow me to get home at a reasonable hour Saturday night. I seem to be leaning towards that game as the most possible second game of the day if I do attend the Bears game.

Cowboys Fumble Away Game to Bears 24 - 6

The Bears pulled out a victory over the Cowboys after a slow start on offense and the help of what seemed like 100 turnovers by the Cowboys. The final stats will indicate who/what had the most yardage between the Bears, the Cowboys, or the Bear's penalties. With several players out with injuries and many players absent, the Bears managed to win this game and their offense even got into the game in the fourth quarter.

The next test for the Bears is to see how many players make the trip to Idaho. Photos of the game can be viewed here at TrueAggies.com by CLICKING HERE.
